No Mister L, this isn't a spam thread....

My Samsung has gone tits :flog: :hb: and I need a new one.

Bought a Sharp 46 inch one :wtf: and the sound is anything but...it is frankly, :ws: appalling. :bin: The sound was tinny and out of sync. I connected my external amp and speakers but that was even more out of sync. It is going back today.... :bin:

Can someone recommend a good set up...?

Do they all need external speakers..

I have a couple of projector setups with surround sound. This one is for my kitchen area. I just wanted something simple that would work out of the box........

Help please.....

:fp: :flog:

I currently have an 47inch LG backlit LED 1080HD with freeview. (47LE5900 is the model number).
My son bought it whilst he was away and it now resides in our lounge. The only problem that I have with it is that it does not like to respond to the remote at an angle.

IMHO, any device from the Sony Bravia KDL series is a good choice...

Panasonic have a very good reputation and mine has been excellent, the sound quality is fine with or without external speakers and picture quality is fantastic.

It used to be the thought that anything bigger than 32 inch plasma was better but LCD and now LED screens are also very good, though I'd still stick with plasma for a big screen, and my next one will be a full Smart Internet ready one.

Toshiba are also very good and are about to release a 3D smart TV that doesn't requie you to wear glasses.

Sony is another very good make and well worth considering.

If you just need a basic telly I think a lot of the cheaper ones are not too bad and I know your Samsung blew up but normally they are very good, I believe Samsung used to make all the LCD displays for the other manufacturers.

Hope that helps. :2Thumbs:

I'm with Pasty on this one - I've constantly upgraded with Panasonic and now have their Viera flat screen. Excellent picture quality on HD, Bluray & when I connect my HD Notebook (for a bit of big screen Miss H :wank: :wank: ).

Panasonic would be my choice but there are other manufacturers available :2Thumbs:

The only experience I had with a plasma screen was a Phillips and I sent it back the next day. The shadowing on movement was horrific an yet I was told that there was nothing wrong with the set. This does appear to be a problem with plasma. LED is the current best as far as I can ascertain, giving the clearest HD pictures on the larger screens.

The other HD TV we have is a 36 inch Toshiba, which has given me no problems at all, either.

Fuck me...

Bought the 37 inch panasonic...got it home...box full of unpacked junk....someone had returned it and the shop had sent it straight back out!

Took it back got another...blimey, even Felix managed to get it working. It is superb...

Need to get my raid storage working as a media server feeding to the network and the apple TV's and I am sorted.

Very impressed with the TV though just watched the rugby on it. Some hard tackles and I saw a lot of ball handling skills I must practice.

Dinner time and over to the Lars diet thread..is it nearly 8 weeks...?

Shame the rugby wasn't quite as impressive as the TV.

England were shite for the first 20 minutes, but did pick up after that. What a finish it would have been if the ball had been grounded at the end. It is the best that England have played so far, even if we did lose.

Agreed. England should rightly feel good after today. With any work in progress you need to show...well, progress, and today that was clear to see. I've been a Welsh follower for far too many years to ever think that Wales were ever going to run away with it - its very rare that that kind of thing happens anyway, especially at Twickenham. Still it was great to win and as they kept saying, there haven't been too many of them over the years. Sadly I remember the '88 game and lording it over my mates at Uni!

Miss Hybrid you could consider Sony LED TV, every television I got is Sony and never change to other brand, just my last 12 years old Sony CRT strikes by lighting, but still works fine after repair

Panasonic plasma for sure.

Denon receiver and Bowers & Wilkins for a good sound.
