I am going to try to post a new pair of questions each day. One general knowledge that I will try and link to the day and then an (possibly loosely) associated set of lyrics to be identified.

So, to begin...

January 14th 1878 - Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated his telephone to which regal personage?

The Lyrics for today
I heard your mother now she's going out the door
Did she go to work or just go to the store
All those things she said, I told you to ignore
Oh why can't we talk again

Oh I can't control myself.....it must be Debbie Harry

And I'd guess Queen Vic for the first part!

Sunday's Question...

On this day in 1974 the quintessential cool dude and his friends appeared on TV for the first time. What was the program?

The Lyrics for today.
... this is you life,
Go out and find yourself a wife
Make a stand and be a man
And you will have a great life plan.

On this day in 1920 a dry spell that lasted until 1933 hit which country?

The Lyrics for today...
I'm a stand-up comedian
but I'd sit down if I could
The world just seems
to want folk like me to stand
And the punch-lines seem to disappear
like clouds across the sky
And the laughter could be real
or could be canned

Yes PK prohibition it is.
Would anyone like to proved which amendment to the constitution approved and which repealed prohibition?

The 18th Amendment tarted Prohibition and the 21st repealed it.

Right, so to recap today's answers.
Prohibition in the US began on 16th January 1920, the 18th amendment having been ratified on the same date the previous year. The 21st amendment repealed this amendment 13 years later.

The lyrics, as the Beautiful Miss Hybrid answered was The Beautiful South with Liar's Bar

On this day in 1985, Leonard Nimoy got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His main claim to fame was, of course, playing Spock in the original series of Star Trek. A 2 part question - Firstly, who played this part in the new film of Star Trek and what part did this person play in another SF TV program that brought him to prominence?

The Lyrics....
Just a man
With a man's courage
Nothing but a man
But he can never fail
No-one but the pure at heart
May find the Golden Grail

OK - will have to come back to the actors name, but there was an article on him in the Sunday Times Magazine this weekend. He was in Heroes.

The song is an easy one!

Dun Dun Dun Dun Flash Aaaaaahh Saviour of the Universe
"Flash I love you but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth"

by Queen of course
