Yesterday's question remains unanswered, but I will still set a question for today...

The first Hydrogen Bomb was exploded this day in 1952 - Where?

The answer to Saturday's question - who was released from Robben Island in 1987 was Govan Mbeki, the father of Thabo Mbeki, former president of South Africa.

Today's question...
Who was the first female president of the Irish Republic, becoming president on this day in 1990.

Neither are correct. Magpie first appeared in 1968 and Blue Peter was 10 years earlier.

We all know that today is Armistice day here and Veterans day in the US as WW1 came to an end on this day in 1918, so today's question has nothing to do with this event.

Which country declared its independence from Great Britain on this day in 1965, and what is the name of the country now?

That'll be illegally declared Rhodesia, now legally declared Zimbabwe.

I'm sorry, but the question was bollocks - I did not do my research properly and will be reporting to the dungeon for proper punishment. :spank:

but, before I go, I'd better pose a question with a real answer....

On this day in 1984, Nigel Lawson announced a change in UK currency. What was the change? (No, Miss H, not 2p)

I think it was the day it made sense to drill a hole in a 1/2p coin and use it as a washer because it was now no longer in use!
