Ahem....just the one!
I have since :search: thinking I may have been on for a full house :fp: I was very close, even though I got the 50/50 answer wrong as well. :thud:
And there is the root of your problem Pasty - thinking that a) is only a 50/50 answer!
:mememe: :mememe: :mememe: was it a draw?
How bad would you feel if I said Pakistan won?

Just my wicked sense of humour!

It was a draw - bad light stopped play in the end - it must have been the thundercloud over Gattings head!

And Sunday's questions are probably just as tough, but the song and the year should be quite easy.....

10 December ????

Daredevil Kidd's 80ft river jump

Stuntman Eddie Kidd has accomplished a "death-defying" motorcycle leap.

During the spectacle he crossed an 80ft gap over a 50ft sheer drop above a viaduct on a 400cc motorcycle.

Experts said a fall would almost certainly have ended in disaster.

Kidd, who is only 20 years old, completed the stunt before a stunned group of spectators, fans and press, at the River Blackwater at Maldon, Essex.

The amazing feat has not left him thirsting for more.

"No mistakes. I never want to do a jump like that again," Kidd said once he regained his breath.

He defied gusty winds which could have thrown him off course to complete the stunt for his new movie.

Kidd prepared himself for launch by opening up the throttle of his 400cc Yamaha motorcycle.

He reached a speed of 100mph for take-off during a 400-yard run-up.

The front of his motorcycle was thrown up temporarily under the pressure of the high winds - to gasps from the crowds below.

But he stayed in control and cleared the gap between the giant pillars which were once connected by a railway bridge.

Kidd landed square on the other side and despite the pressure of the stunt came away with only a minor leg injury.

His father, also Eddie, who has been his son's manager for 18 months, and mother Marjie were among the audience.

They said they were proud of his achievements and relieved it was over.

But their relief may be short lived as Kidd has said his ambition is to jump the Grand Canyon - with a parachute.

Kidd is now branching out from the world of stunts into showbiz.

He is releasing an album and appearing in his first film "Heavy Metal" which has won good reviews.

a) Kidd was a stunt double for Timothy Dalton & Pierce Brosnan in two Bond movies. Can you name the two films?
b) In 1993, Kidd was challenged to a world title motorcycle "jump off" competition in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Who else took part in the challenge?
c) In what year did Kidd become paralysed after a failed 50ft jump across a drag strip while performing at the Bulldog Bash

a) As there were only two Timothy Dalton Bond films I'll go for The Living Daylights as I don't remember any motorcycles in Licence to Kill.

I would have thought Tomorrow Never Dies for the Brosnan film as there is definitely a load of motorcycle action set in Saigon.

Paul

A mix of right and wrong answers today!

Mr L got off to a good start with, what I thought anyway, the easy part of the question, correctly getting The :police: and the year of 1979.

Paul got the correct TD Bond with The Living Daylights and Pasty & 1BB had the PB Bond of Goldeneye.

Pasty was on the right line with Knievil but 1BB was closer by correctly guessing that it was Eval's son - whose name was Robbie.

To be honest I was struggling with a 3rd question today and I thought c) was quite a toughie - the answer was 1996.

Well done all - we will have our penultimate quiz next weekend

OK so its a bit tough at this time of year to get any decent questions - so many of them are about people dying and murders - its just not the best to get into the Christmas Spirit!

Anyway, here goes for today.

19 December ????

Britain signs over Hong Kong to China

The British colony of Hong Kong is to be returned to China in 1997 after an historic agreement was signed in Peking today.

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher signed the Joint Sino-British Declaration with her Chinese counterpart Zhao Ziyang.

It formally seals the future of Hong Kong, transferring it from a British colony of six million people to communist China.

The agreement, which will end 155 years of British rule in the colony, also launches a new era in trade and diplomacy between the two countries.

Chinese president Deng Xiaoping, who pursued the recovery of Hong Kong, greeted Mrs Thatcher.

The champagne ceremony took place at the Great Hall of the People before delegates who helped draw up the agreement, including 101 guests from Hong Kong.

Mrs Thatcher said: "The circumstances are unique. The agreement is unique.
"It is right that we should feel a sense of history, of pride and of confidence in the future."

Britain has agreed to return Hong Kong after guarantees it will "enjoy a high degree of autonomy, except in foreign and defence affairs".

And China's principle of "one country, two systems" allows Hong Kong to have a capitalist economy and enjoy existing rights and freedoms.

a) On what date in 1997 did the transfer occur?
b) What is now Hong Kong’s official name?
c) Who was the last Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Hong Kong?
