Bruce Forsyth has a loaf of bread 22.5 cm long.

Bruce can cut at the speed of 1 slice per second.

If Bruce cut slices of 1.5 cm width, how long will it take Bruce to cut the maximum amount of slices from the whole loaf?

I find it is somewhat easier to work on the solution if the problem is modified as follows:

Felix has a loaf of bread 22.5 cm long. (he can dream can't he?)
Miss H loves to practice her deep throat technique
If Miss H can swallow 1.5 cm of loaf per second, how long will it take before Felix gives up his dough?

Is he English? Then he has to convert each time into inches before cutting. That can take ages I fear :?

Inches is imperial, your naughtiness - 18 inches would be around 457mm (metric)

Larrs knew the answer, but just to close it...

Bruce will take 1 second because the maximum slices he can cut from a whole loaf is one. After the 1st slice is cut, its not a whole loaf anymore. :P

Can someone explain it to me please?
