Imagine you are in a sinking boat, you have one harpoon and are surrounded by many sharks.

How do you survive :?:

Unless the sharks are Great White, Tiger or Bull, I would have no problem surviving by swimming to shore, or at least not drowning. Sharks in general are not dangerous, only the 3 species that I have mentioned above are dangerous.

Obviously Larss has had little experience dealing with lawyers or mothers-in-law.

Lawyers - I get your point, but my mum-in-law is a very nice lady.

I stop imagining and find that I am perfectly safe at home.

 at the replies and pics.

Nice try Riccardo, but incorrect.

Larrs, no the sharks would not be tame, they would be a very dangerous kind and would make Jaws look as scary as a goldfish.

Keep trying, the clue is in the words rather than the puzzle itself.

There are lots of people on the boat, each with a harpoon. More people than sharks means that together we can kill all the sharks before they get to us. Also, as soon as one shark is harpooned, the other sharks will go for that one, making it easier to kill them off.

Nope there is only you on the boat and one harpoon.

There is over 10,000 hungry big bad sharks waiting for dinner. The sharks are also highly trained and can dodge harpoons.

I imagine I'm a bird and fly away.

or

I replace the harpoon into the hole that is causing the boat to sink, having accidentally poked the damn thing into the boat in the first place. This stops the boat sinking, and I just sail away.

How far are you from shore? Are out to sea? Use the harpoon to shoot the closest tree, and pull yourself to shore.

Good try, but no you are in the middle of the ocean with no trees for thousands of miles.

The answer is in the word 'imagine'

You will always survive whatever the danger, because you are imagining it and its not really happening. :P
